Bespoke character and illustration series for Hancock Health.

Hancock Health is an award-winning US healthcare network providing affordable, advanced treatments.

The Challenge

We were approached by the team at Well Done Marketing to develop a bespoke character and a series of illustrations for Hancock Health. The brief was to create a frog character based on a health-related backstory who would become the mascot for their employee ambassador programme. The final character would be used on internal comms and newsletters.

The Solution

The project began with a thorough R&D phase where we explored potential directions and approaches. After producing a series of 2D character mockups, we agreed on the direction and moved into 3D development. We delivered a hero image of the frog character Hank in his ‘pad’, followed by a series of character poses and props to help tell his story. We also created a short animation of Hank waving because we couldn’t resist! The final delivery was a series of 3D illustrations at print resolution.

The Hank 3D Character Illustration project is a series of print-resolution 3D illustrations produced by Buff Motion for Hancock Health, an award-winning US healthcare network, via agency Well Done Marketing, centred on a bespoke frog character created to serve as the mascot for Hancock Health's employee ambassador programme. Brighton-based Buff Motion, a certified B Corporation, handled all 3D modelling and animation in-house, beginning with an R&D phase that included 2D character mockups before moving into full 3D development. The character, named Hank, was grounded in a health-related backstory and designed to feature in internal communications and newsletters. Buff Motion delivered a hero image of Hank in his pad, alongside a series of character poses and accompanying props to support narrative storytelling, as well as a short animation of the character waving. The final deliverables were a series of 3D illustrations at print resolution. Chad Wysong, Production Designer at Well Done Marketing, confirmed that Buff Motion had previously collaborated on both 2D animation and 3D modelling projects, describing all as smooth, polished, and professional experiences.
