Creating an animated TV & online video Ad for Grommet.

Grommet is an online platform dedicated to helping people discover innovative products that help you live a little better, and support small businesses.

The Challenge

We were approached by their in-house creative team to produce an animated promo to launch their new brand identity. The aim was to develop a piece of content for online promotion and as advertising for TV-on-demand platforms that would promote the platform, widen Grommet’s audiece and introduce their current followers to a fresh new look. They wanted a video that was fun, vibrant, quirky and true to who they really were

The Solution

As Grommet were hoping to find new customers, we worked to create a striking and engaging piece that would instantly catch people's attention. The script was key so we worked with a few different scriptwriters to carefully craft the messaging with the right fun and quirky tone. We created some 3D rendered objects mixed with photography that showcased the intriguing products they sell—then wrapped it all up with some animated graphics that expressed their new brand - which is all about bold colours, fonts and interesting visuals

The final deliverable was a 30s hero animation. Grommet liked the video so much that they later commissioned a holiday season version too.

The Grommet Digital Ad is a 30-second animated promotional film produced by Buff Motion for Grommet, an online platform dedicated to helping people discover innovative products and support small businesses, created to launch Grommet's new brand identity across online channels and TV-on-demand platforms. Brighton-based Buff Motion, a certified B Corporation, managed design and animation in-house, with the script developed in collaboration with copywriter Deej Johnson and agency Lark, and sound design by James Locke-Hart. The brief called for a piece that was fun, vibrant, and quirky — capable of widening Grommet's audience and introducing existing followers to a refreshed visual identity. Buff Motion created 3D rendered objects mixed with photography to showcase the platform's product range, wrapping these elements in animated graphics expressing the new brand's bold colour palette and typographic identity. A scripting process involving multiple writers was central to achieving the right tone. The 30-second hero animation proved successful enough that Grommet subsequently commissioned a holiday season version. Carina Chavada, Producer at Grommet, described the outcome as creative, dynamic, and ingenious.

The Impact

Our collaboration with Grommet successfully translated a complex, multi-category retail message into a cohesive, high-energy narrative. By blending 3D motion design with real product photography, Buff Motion delivered a dynamic online video advertisement that perfectly captured the client's quirky, vibrant essence.

The campaign resonated so strongly with their audience and internal stakeholders that the initial 30-second hero animation was instantly extended—with Grommet commissioning our studio to produce a dedicated festive holiday version to drive seasonal traffic.
