The Challenge

F37® Foundry is an award-winning type foundry that creates fonts and logotypes to help businesses stand apart. They wanted to showcase their new font collection in a series of short animations to be shared across their social channels. The new Britain Collection contains seven disparate but perfectly patriotic fonts, and each of these needed its own loop.

The Solution

In collaboration with the talented team at Found, we produced a looping animation for the new typefaces. Each font was given its own quintessentially British theme which provided the wording and design. Found created some relevant 3D objects, like a stick of rock or a cup of tea. We then animated the typeface itself, exploring different font weights to give the viewer a feel for the type design.

The F37 Typeface Promos are a series of short animated loops produced for F37 Foundry, an award-winning type foundry that creates fonts and logotypes to help businesses stand apart, created to showcase the foundry's Britain Collection across social media channels. Brighton-based Buff Motion, a certified B Corporation, handled 2D animation on the project in collaboration with Found studio, who managed production, 3D animation, and sound design. The Britain Collection comprises seven distinct typefaces, each given its own quintessentially British theme to inform both the wording and visual design of its individual loop. Found created relevant 3D objects — such as a stick of rock and a cup of tea — to complement each theme, while Buff Motion animated the typefaces themselves, exploring different font weights to give viewers a feel for each type design. The final deliverables were seven short animated loops for online use, one per typeface in the collection.

Our team designed a series of distinct social and digital promo videos, each tailored specifically to the unique geometric personality, history, and weight of individual F37 typefaces.
