Sharing how we’re making impactful changes through sustainable sourcing in Brighton and beyond.

Supporting B Corp and Sussex based brands

Being B Corp Certified means a lot to us. In addition to being a movement for change, it provides a framework to hold us accountable, ensuring we consistently strive to make the best decisions for the planet, our community, our team, and our clients.

To support this year's B Corp Month campaign, ‘A Simple Symbol, A Powerful Signal,’ we’re focusing on the small but impactful choices we’re making through the vendors we purchase supplies from.

Being located in Brighton, one of the UK’s leading sustainable and eco-friendly cities, is a huge benefit. This location gives us easy access to fantastic local businesses and products that share our commitment to sustainability.

We are proud to share our current list of sustainable suppliers - both ethical and local - with our community and wider network. We hope this list will serve as a resource for those looking to support businesses that genuinely prioritise doing good.

To celebrate B Corp month this year, we took some of the team for breakfast at Redroaster's - a fellow B Corp based in Brighton.

Our B Corp suppliers

Beryl Bikes

Some of our team cycle to work, often utilising Beryl Bikes for easy access to parking spots across the city. This initiative is something we value, as it encourages our team to reduce their carbon footprint outside of the office and helps to decrease overall street traffic.

Innocent Drinks

To start the week off right, the Buff team gathers every Monday for our weekly breakfast meeting. A healthy and delicious way to get a head start on our five-a-day is often provided by a bottle of Innocent drinks on the table. Of course, we then wash and recycle these at the end of their use!

Buff’s beloved beverages

To keep things interesting and the team hydrated, we also enjoy a few other notable beverages:

Who Gives A Crap

We stock our office with tissue boxes from Who Gives A Crap. This choice aligns with our commitment to sustainability because their tissues are made from 100% recycled paper, giving new life to used resources and helping reduce deforestation caused by conventional paper production. We are proud to support a brand that donates 50% of its profits to global clean water and sanitation non-profits.

SMOL

We actively choose to refill our dish soap using SMOL, an excellent, plant-powered, and biodegradable option. This choice significantly reduces plastic and chemical waste entering water streams, and importantly, the product is cruelty-free!

Seep Sponges

We purchased a year's supply of Seep's Eco Sponges to maintain our office kitchen, which allows us to reduce our carbon footprint due to fewer deliveries. These sponges are plastic-free, made from compostable/recyclable loofah and wood pulp cellulose, which makes them compostable  and biodegradable.. Seep also supports sustainability throughout its supply chain, including partnerships with non-profits like On A Mission to help with reforestation and carbon offsetting.

Supporting local Brighton and Sussex-based businesses

Purchasing from local vendors supports the local economy whilst also helping to minimise carbon emissions by reducing the distance between shops and our office. Here are a few notable ethical and sustainable suppliers we regularly purchase from.

Real Patisserie

As part of our Monday team breakfasts, we also enjoy delicious pastries and baked goods from Real Patisserie. This Sussex-based bakery is guided by the philosophy to 'Do good by people and planet.' They demonstrate their commitment through sustainability methods like utilising green energy and partnering with local charities to minimise waste.

Share of the Crop

We get a fresh fruit basket delivered every two weeks from A Share Of The Crop. They work with great local farms and businesses to source fresh, seasonal produce. Plus, A Share Of The Crop also does great work supporting two Brighton-based charities: Off The Fence and Kidz Klub Brighton.

Skylark Coffee

At Buff, we're serious about our coffee, and we’re proud to know that every cup helps a great cause. We purchase our beans from Skylark, a unique non-profit speciality coffee brand. Skylark's beans are harvested from around the world, including India, Mexico, Indonesia, and Colombia, and are 'carefully roasted at the foot of the South Downs.'

What makes them special is that 100% of their proceeds go directly to charity. Skylark believes that coffee is quite possibly the most powerful way to transform livelihoods by supporting coffee farmers, paying their own employees well, and minimising their environmental impact.

Infinity Foods

Infinity Foods is a favourite local cooperative shop for the Buff team. Celebrated not just for its fresh produce, baked goods, and wide selection of vegetarian and vegan products, the business is also deeply committed to the Brighton community and actively contributes to local schemes by sponsoring community initiatives.

It supports various charities that address issues like poverty and homelessness in the area, as well as environmental charities focused on protecting Sussex wildlife.

Join us on this journey

We are always seeking new local suppliers who share our commitment to environmental and community well-being. Our network is always growing — if you know someone we should be partnering with, tell us. Return to this page to follow our journey and celebrate the local businesses joining us along the way.
