A collection of brilliant things from the realms of illustration and motion design that we’ve been wowed by in the past month.

ODEON 6

French animator Jonathan Djob Nkondo, specialises in short film animation. We chose to feature this piece as we were fascinated by his beautiful minimalistic art style of otherworldly creatures.

Squarespace - Fluid Engine

We really like the type animation in this product walkthrough for Squarespace, directed by creative studio Not Real. Subtle slides and drops draw the eye and make the text seem alive. Plus, we love how the sound design, with the digital-sounding blips and rolls, relates to the process of building a website.

This is Nouns - Ordinary Folk

This short video is an explainer for the on-chain avatar community Nouns. This is a really fun video packed full of a huge variation of animation styles, which could be deemed as distracting but for this video it really works! The message is still really clear and easy to follow. We thought this was great.

Wiggle Wiggle

We love how characterful the 3D animation is in this personal project by Cozy. The energy of the characters interacting with everyday objects makes for a fun and enjoyable watch.

Nature.org - Plastic

We really like the illustration style in this video from Illo, created to draw attention to the plastic pollution problem. They use shape to identify different elements throughout the video and represent organic matter versus plastic. Shaped edges and exaggerated tilts define the plastic. They stand out in each scene against the organic, rounded shapes of people and nature. It’s really nice.
