Make a change this Christmas
Sometimes the bare essentials can change the course of a young person’s life. Especially for those facing the uncertainty of homelessness this winter.
This December, the Buff team has come together to partner with The Clock Tower Sanctuary on a reverse advent calendar. The Clock Tower Sanctuary is the only drop-in day centre in Brighton & Hove for young people aged 16-25 experiencing homelessness.
What’s a reverse advent calendar?
This year, instead of receiving a treat each day, we chose to give back. We’ve focused on gathering the essentials that The Clock Tower Sanctuary advised are needed most. Over the last few weeks, we’ve collected warm fleeces, rucksacks, tinned foods, and personal care items like body wash. We hope these items offer not just practical help, but a sense of dignity and support to the young people who receive them.
We know this time of year can be difficult for many, from the dropping temperatures and the rising cost of living that make even the basics hard to afford, particularly for the 16–25-year-olds this charity supports.
It is sobering to think that about a fifth of this demographic are sleeping rough, with many more considered part of the ‘hidden homeless’ population - who may be sofa surfing or staying in unsafe conditions. It’s a tough time to be without a safety net, so we are grateful for the opportunity to partner with The Clocktower Sanctuary to provide some comfort to our community during the winter months.
